THE HALLOWEEN and HOLIDAY SHOWS
($350) September through December. CHILDREN AND TEENS. Age Groups 7-10, 11-13, and 14+. In the fall, our students create two unique holiday-themed productions. The first is our Halloween Ghost Show, featuring stories of ghosts, goblins, and ghouls. Scenes are designed to grow students' ability to perform through speech and movement and include basic movement and acting techniques. Our second project for the semester is our holiday pageant, featuring stories from various traditions. For this project, students learn to work with scripted dialogue and to develop characters. Both projects are performed for an audience of friends and family and are open to the community.
($350) February through June. CHILDREN. Age Groups 7-10 AND 11-13. In the spring, we focus on developing and integrating voice, movement, and acting skills in our annual children's musical production. We allow students to draw on their strengths and invite students of all levels of skill and experience to participate. There are roles for students who are only comfortable acting as well as students who would like to try acting, singing, and dancing or some combination of the three.
IMPROV COMEDY DINNER THEATRE
September through March. TEENS AND ADULTS. Our adult improv ensemble meets Sunday afternoons to learn Odd Act's own unique set of exercises, games, and techniques for creating original improvised comedy. Participants perform a weekend of dinner theatre at the end of March in our own black box theater, transformed into an intimate comedy club for the occasion. There is no charge to participate, but actors are expected to sell tickets to the final performances.
($250) June and July. ADULTS AND CHILDREN. Each summer, we bring our ensembles together in order to stage an original adaptation of a classic fairytale. Past productions have included Peter Pan, Aladdin, and Alice in Wonderland. Participants work with their individual ensembles and together in order to create a magical journey for audiences and actors alike through the incredible world of these classic tales. Actors of all ages and levels of experience are encouraged to join us. While the productions tend to focus on acting and storytelling, there are also opportunities for dancers and singers.
AGES 4-6. ($250) MONDAYS. October 10 to December 12. 5pm to 6:30pm.
Join us in a very special exploration of the basics of creative self expression. Our youngest students develop a classic children's tale into a fully-staged production in a low-pressure, nurturing environment that allows them to begin to find their own unique voice. Students receive intensive guidance from out instructors but are given the opportunity to take the stage with the encouragement and support necessary to the early development of a fully expressive performer.
